This city was one of the major centers of carpet production and trade during the reign of the Mongol Holakukhan, and along with the city of Herat (in ancient Khorasan and now in Afghanistan); hand-woven carpet weaving is in its development stages. The carpets of this city have always been desirable for foreign and domestic markets due to their durability and interesting patterns, as well as the delicacy of their texture. In Azerbaijan, the texture of the carpet varies from the harshest to the most delicate. Common colors in Azerbaijani dyeing factories are mostly red, blue, green, yellow, burnt orange, beige, pink, or any other market-friendly color.
